What better way to start the Winter series. 50 + entries for the series with some single entries to come. The wind played its part and stayed in all day, dropping at one stage but then coming back to 8-10 knts.
The c division has 8 new sailors from McLeans College with 5 making the first day. These students sailed well with 4 metres when they really needed to change to a 5 midway through the afternoon. We saw that a few already have good sailing skills and will be competitive in the weeks to come. Thanks Ray and Trevor in getting these guys going. Also good to see back is Alex and John Klingenberg. John was in c division and won the first race and overall had a good day.
Both the light weight and heavy weight division is going to be very competitive. There are many in both divisions capable of winning races and ending up on the podium. The lightweights had Trevor, David H, Barry, Tony, Graeme, Graham consistently up in the front bunch with Derek and Jude also having a couple of good race.
The heavy weight division had 3 different winners but also looks like ere are a few others who are going to be there. Bruce was away and will be looking to make an impression on his return.
18 races completed over the day with everyone packed up by about 4.30. A great way to start off the winter racing season.
